Caterpillars or larvae are raised in the larva house. Every morning new eggs that have been laid in the butterfly house are taken to the larva house. When the larvae hatch they are transferred to the leaves of the particular plant that they feed on. Each day fresh leaves are given to the larvae to eat. Stems with leaves are placed in glass jars that have water. The glass jars are kept in cages. These feeding tubes come in many different colors and sizes. The Morpho peleides larva requires two months before it will form a pupa. The owl's eye butterfly Caligo memnon grows up to 6 inches and takes about 4 weeks before forming a pupa.

Many of the pupae are sent to the live butterfly exhibit in Copan and to the live butterfly exhibit in Roatan. Some of the pupae will hatch inside the larva house. These can be put back into the forest, in the butterfly house, be dried for decorative butterfly frames or exported to collectors around the world.

Las larvas o gusanos de las mariposas se crían dentro del edificio de las larvas. En la mañana se llevan los huevos de la casa de mariposas al edificio de larvas. Cuando nacen se colocan las larvas en las hojas de que se alimentan. Hay que darles hojas frescas todos los días. Se colocan los tallos en botes de vidrio con agua. Los botes se colocan en jaulas.

Las larvas varían mucho en colores y tamaño. La larva de la mariposa azul Morpho peleides vive dos meses. La larva de la mariposa Caligo memnon crece a 15 centímetros de largo y vive seis semanas. Las larvas se convierten en pupa. Se mandan las pupas a Copán y a Roatán donde se exhiben las mariposas vivas. Las mariposas que nacen en la finca se pueden liberar al bosque, disecarlas para cuadros decorativos o venderlas a coleccionistas alrededor del mundo.
